Breakaway cat collars are the safest type of cat collar,  recommended by the RSPCA and other animal welfare organisations. They are the only type of cat collar we sell and the only type we would put on our own cats. Your cat needs a collar that stays on when it needs to, but comes off easily if your cat is in danger - hooked on a tree branch, snagged on a fence, caught on a window latch - so they can break free and live to chase another mouse.

Legally cats don't need to wear a collar when going outside, but they are useful to show that your cat is not a stray. A collar should never be a substitute for microchipping your cat and ensuring the details are kept up to date, and this becomes a legal requirement in the UK from 10 June 2024.

To fit correctly, ensure that you can get two fingers side on between your cat and the collar for safety and comfort. Please remove the collar when using liquid flea treatments.
