Siting & Usage Guidance
Place the hedgehog house in a quiet, undisturbed area of the garden away from direct sunlight and harsh winds. For extra insulation during winter hibernation, pack the interior lightly with dry leaves or hay, and camouflage the outside with twigs and garden foliage.
Care & Maintenance
Annual Retreating: To maintain weather resistance and timber durability, retreat the exterior annually using a non-toxic, wildlife-friendly wood finish (such as Golden Pine) or Exterior Danish Oil.
Cleaning Instructions: Inspect and clean the house once a year in early autumn, ensuring no hedgehogs are residing inside. Wash with warm water and a soft sponge. If detergent is necessary, use a mild option and rinse thoroughly so no residue remains. Allow to dry fully before returning to the garden.
