Usage & Maintenance

- Seasonal insulation: Lightly pack the interior with dry leaves or hay and camouflage the roof with twigs; the hedgehogs will do the rest.

Leave them be: Leave food and water nearby but never disturb a hibernating hedgehog, as waking consumes critical winter energy; use a wildlife camera to safely watch them instead.
- Annual maintenance: Clean the vacant unit in early autumn using warm water, then apply a non-toxic, wildlife-friendly wood stain to the exterior to maintain its weatherproofing.
